The celebration took place at Upward Bound House's Family Shelter at 6:30pm on Monday August 20th. CBS Television Distribution employees handed out more than 80 donated back packs filled with essential school supplies for the upcoming school year to needy children.
This is the third year that CBS Television Distribution has helped homeless children get ready for the new school year with a backpack drive at Upward Bound House.
"School can be a very difficult place to go when you are homeless," said David Snow, Executive Director of Upward Bound House. "We are grateful to the employees at CBS Television Distribution to provide these kids the resources - and inspiration - to succeed in school and beyond."
"The children in-residence at Upward Bound House are like any other children - they need backpacks and school supplies to be successful in the coming school year," said John Nogawski, President, CBS Television Distribution. "We are proud that, for the third consecutive year, we can make the burden of back-to-school shopping a little easier. There is nothing more gratifying than seeing the kids' faces when they open up their backpacks and take a look inside for the first time. Education is the most important factor in a child's success, and we are proud, too, that the employees of CBS Television Distribution, who's infectious enthusiasm enticed employees from Entertainment Tonight and CBS Films to participate as well this year, making this our most successful Backpack event to date."
